A New Family

Cristian Urrutia decided to do his Discipleship Training School (DTS) after a couple of years of struggling with the fact that he didn’t feel a sense of accomplishment through school. Even though he got into the best university, he felt there was more to life. He wanted to do more and really live for God passionately. After having heard about YWAM and DTS he decided to apply. At the age of 19, he did the January DTS of 2006 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

It was a real stretch for him coming out of his comfort zone. All his life he had only cared about his family, a few close friends and himself. While doing the DTS he learned to relate to people more and found that many people were genuinely interested in knowing him on a deeper level, something he had not experienced before.

What most impacted him was his relationship with his fellow team members whom he learned to love and appreciate like he would his own family. The bond he had made with them was something that couldn’t be broken.

Before the DTS he was reserved and quiet and at the end of the school he was far more outgoing and eager to meet new people and establish friendships. The friends he made had become a part of his family and part of him, something he will never forget.
