Dear friends,
ACCIDENT STATUS
UPDATE
-MARY:
It has been three months since our head-on collision, we are continuing to
mend. Mary is now walking slowly with the aid of a cane, and has started
physical therapy this last week, even driving herself to the therapist.
Being able to drive an automatic (for which she did not need her left foot)
was a real emotional milestone for her.
-PAUL:
For weeks I have been feeling that my clavicle bones have not bonded. My
concern was confirmed last week. Next step might be a device that generates
magnetic waves on my shoulder that stimulate the bones to continue to
grow--or a surgery. It is a bit creepy to feel my bones slip during certain
movements of my arm.
-FINANCES:
The paperwork generated by insurance companies and medical providers is
somewhat overwhelming. The invoices by emergency services, labs, X-Ray
departments, individual specialists, the hospital, etc.) go through multiple
revisions as insurers adjust the costs or change their minds. I don't know
how the average mortal can stay on top of this. Bottom line is that we need
to pay $10,000 (the deductible) out of our "own" pockets (we have managed
about half of that so far).
-PRAYER NEEDS:
1) One of my biggest concerns (keeping me sleepless
at times) is the possibility that the other party in the accident will not
be satisfied with the coverage limit provided by our automobile insurance.
The gentleman in the other car (who had similar injuries to our own) has
(according to our insurance agent) reached the claims limit, and apparently
obtained the services of a lawyer....
2) Life and workload occasionally seem overwhelming. I seem
to be back in a mode where I work all the time. The nature of our ministry
extends beyond a nine to five work timeframe, and having an office at home
does not help. I need wisdom and discipline to set healthier boundaries.
We appreciate your
concern,
prayers and support.
Paul and Mary (...walking by His grace)
