Hi everybody,
This is a short and sweet note about us... before
i need to pack...
I, Paul, am about to rush off with Sean to the
airport which will start us off on a 31 hour / six-stop-over journey to
southwestern China. YWAM's annual leadership gathering is taking place this
year in China (last year, Kenya and before that, New Zealand).
After China we will be in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) for a
week-long conference on women's issues (organized by YWAM). My office's
video team will be there for image magnification onto large screens and for
recording the event... Sean will be one of the camera operators.
While Sean and I are in China, Mary and Noelle will fly out to Amsterdam to
visit YWAM and, of course, grandma Lura (Mary's mom)! We will all meet up in
A'dam, when Sean and I get there Sep 9--after Malaysia.
Mary will then return home (on Sept. 11... yes, I
know... she looked at me cross-eyed when I informed her of the schedule I
had worked out... likely one of the safer days to fly as security will
probably be intense), and I will drive with the kids into Germany to visit
friends and then also my family in Berlin... Noelle has never seen my father
(long story... last year, after Africa, I visited my parents... but lasted
only 10 minutes with my father).
We would appreciate your prayers!!!! I feel sooo
privileged (although it is a serious stretch) to be able to take Sean with
me on this round-the-world trip!
Our team here have just celebrated 10 years in Colorado
Springs, as well as God's goodness throughout this period.
...Atlanta conference and WorldChristian News
Three days ago I returned from Atlanta where I ran a
bookstore for the ACMC national missions conference (it is an organization
that serves local-church mission committees). Our office is known as having
one of the best collections of "worldChristian"
titles and we frequently
receive invitations to serve mission conferences that way.
The few days since returning, as you can well imagine,
have been very busy... but, what else is new with Paul. He (yes, am talking
about myself) seems to have set into motion more than he can handle, and is
always struggling to not get toooooo far behind.
Good news though, I now have an assistant editor (that
is why you may have received a copy of the just re-launched
WorldChristian
News magazine... if not, feel free to ask me for a copy), and we finally
have a graphic artist in our office.
This morning I finished my part in the
production of the next booklet (52 pages) for the annual 30 Days Muslim
Prayer Focus... my editor and graphic artist will finalize it for the
printer. Our first print-run will be 60,000 booklets... there is such an
interest in this strategic and informative
Prayer Guide!
.... Amsterdam Reunion
A wonderful thing that occurred in June was the
Amsterdam Reunion in Atlanta. About 170 people showed up (incl kids) to
renew contacts, and reminisce about past ministry and sojourn in that city.
People came from all over, including from as far away as Australia. It was
very much (better than expected) fun to reconnect and see old friends and
colleagues in an informal relaxed setting. The kids especially had a
fabulous time reconnecting with other kids whom they had not seen in ten
years.
Well, this turned out to be more long-winded than I
meant to be... if you made it all the way to this closing paragraph, forgive
the false promise for brevity in the beginning :-)
I hope you have frequent reasons to be hopeful and grateful
