Yes, we are still involved in the same and similar activities to which the
Lord had called us in Europe--serving YWAM internationally (and missions in
general) through various information and communication functions. We have been in Colorado Springs nearly ten years now, and just had the tenth anniversary of the annual "30 Days Muslim Prayer Focus" which I coordinate for North America. Due to the 9/11 event, there was MUCH more interest in reading about and praying for the Muslim world (we distributed about 80,000 booklets, compared to 26,000 the previous year). The 30-day period coincides annually with the Muslim month of fasting, called Ramadan, every year (in 2002 it will start Nov 6). Just a couple days before 9/11 I had returned back from a trip to Kenya where I participated in meetings with YWAM's international leadership. We meet once a year somewhere in the world. The previous year we met in New Zealand, and I was able to take Sean with me (he is 19 now and has started studying at a local Community College). On the way to NZ, Sean and I visited YWAM teams in India for a few weeks.... he loves traveling, and I like taking him along whenever possible. On the way back from Kenya I stopped in Europe for a few days, including Berlin, my hometown. It was the first time back there in nine years, and I had a wonderful time with my mother (also shed a lot of tears... reminiscing, driving and walking through neighborhoods I had grown up in, as well as seeing a couple people I am still in touch with). Then on to Amsterdam, visiting Mary's mom, who continues to be active in the Spanish speaking church she helped plant (she is in her '80s now), and spending many many hours with an old German friend, who as of this morning (March 6) is in Syria on his way to Iraqi Kurdistan. It was real blessing running around Amsterdam with him, catching up with him and life in that part of the world (he lives on a houseboat). Well, I need to stop now.... Noelle is almost ready, and I will take her to school on my way to our YWAM office. Noelle is now 14, a very loving, socially-outgoing teen. We are currently looking into Christian private school options for the coming school year when she enters high school. While Sean went all the way through the public school system, we feel Noelle needs a different high school context. Please pray with us about that (it is of course also a great financial matter).
