Adopt A People

One exciting way you can get involved in fulfilling the Great Commission is to join with others in your church to adopt an unreached people group. YWAM has many ways to help you.

Unreached people groups are ethnic groups that do not have churches in their midst which are capable of evangelizing their own people. Sometimes there is no church at all! Imagine never hearing that you could be forgiven and reconciled to God. Imagine never knowing Jesus Christ. Imagine never attending a Christian church. Over two billion people on earth never have.

These people make up a total of 8,000 "people groups" of different colors and sizes, people with different religions and ways of life. YWAM's global goal is to ensure that all 8,000 of these unreached people groups are reached through self-governing churches that are capable of reaching their entire group.

YWAM is seeking to partner with churches and others in attaining this goal, through a program called Adopt A People. This program makes it possible for churches to directly serve, give, pray and send workers to an unreached people group.

What Adopt A People Offers
Through Adopt A People, YWAM can offer you and your church:

  • a wide selection of unreached people groups in which we can work together. We can counsel you through the selection process in deciding which unreached group would be a good adoption for you and/or your church.
  • we supply up-to-date prayer information for your prayer efforts.
  • we provide investment opportunities so your giving can make a direct impact on your adopted people group.
  • we give the opportunity for your leadership team to visit your adopted people group face to face.
  • in many cases, short-term outreaches can be arranged to enable you to participate in reaching your adopted group through practical development work or evangelism
  • YWAM provides appropriate training to anyone from your church that feels called to work among your adopted group. In many areas there will be an existing field team that a church member could join.
