- RUSSIA: With the threat of renewed restrictions on religious freedom,
pastors have called on churches around the world to pray that the country
does not revert to the strong anti-Christian stance of its Communist past.
- UNITED STATES: Sixteen teenagers are praying and pedalling their way
coast-to-coast, completing a 3,500-mile cycle marathon on the way to an
international Christian youth event.
- FRANCE: Peace walkers on a trek from Germany to Jerusalem made a
bridge-building visit to the European Parliament, to tell Turkish delegates
they were sorry for the Medieval Crusades which, they say, have set
Christians and Muslims against one another for nine centuries.
- AUSTRALIA: A memorial fund to train young Third World Christians for
missionary service has been founded following the tragic death of a
19-year-old student missionary.
- UNITED STATES: A computer system streamlining the work of the
international Mercy Ships medical missionary fleet has won a major award for
technological innovation.
- SWITZERLAND: Thousands of Christians were challenged to "become Jonahs" -
and, like the reluctant prophet, go to the tough places - at the close of a
groundbreaking nationwide gathering celebrating church unity.
